The reflex points we're going to focus on for migraines and headaches are the reflexes to the brain, head, neck reflexes, the spinal reflexes and then we'll end with the solar plexus.
So, we'll begin using thumb and finger-walking techniques. And we'll start with the toe, work our way down. So, with the toe you always want to support the ball of the foot. The whole top of the foot here. And then you can finger or thumb-walk down. So, supporting the toe in the back you can thumb-walk down the toe.
You want to be extremely thorough if this is something that is important for your friend or family member that they're struggling with. So, you'll want to thumb-walk down, up, across. You could do it here. You could also lift and go into a point a little bit more. You could go at a slight angle on your way up. You can support and use your thumb and your finger and go down at the same time. And you could use your finger-walking on this part. So, again you're just coming down with the finger-walking right here. You can give attention to the pituitary gland reflex. You can give attention to all these brain reflexes. You could use a little bit of your knuckle at the top, if you want, to get in there a little deeper. I don't use a lot of knuckle techniques. I don't think they're necessary. I think the thumb-walking is very effective.
Once you've done your whole toe, the neck reflexes here, the brain reflexes here - coming down you want to do the spinal reflex. So, with the spinal reflex you're going to come all the way from the top and do the entire spine. So, I'll start here. Always supporting. And then I come down with thumb-walking. And I just move as I continue on. And I'm taking really small bites here, so you're not doing big if don't want to miss any area. And you're going through different parts of the spine, too. You're going through at the very of your cervical spine and your thoracic spine and your lumbar spine. And these are the end points. You're sending a message from this end-point to the corresponding area to relax. So, you don't want to rush that. Just take your time.
So, you'll want to do it bilaterally. You'll want to do both feet. In addition to that big toe you're going to want to do all the toes. So, with the neck reflexes here, it's the same with the other toes. You also have the sinuses that come down right here. So with each toe just give a little bit of attention right there as well. And of course at the very top we have the brain reflexes. You give attention to all the toes, both feet and then the spinal reflexes on the way down.
And then I always end with a solar plexus hold. So, you take your thumbs here. This is the diaphragm line. You're going to come across here. Right in the center, there. That's your point. And you just lean forward.

Suffering with a headache? This foot reflexology massage could help
What is foot reflexology?
The feet have 26 bones and over 7,000 nerve endings called reflexes. It is these reflexes that correspond to every organ and system within your body.
Reflexology is a non-intrusive complementary therapy and is based on the theory that by applying gentle pressure on these reflex points, stimulate the nervous system and opens the energy pathways that may be blocked or congested.
A reflexology treatment aims to restore the body’s natural balance. In this busy world, we spend a lot of time on our feet and our feet take a daily pounding. This impact is felt throughout the whole body.
We put our feet under a lot of pressure and never give them a thought until they start hurting.

So, we're basically going to be doing a lot of thumb walking, so we'll start with the big toe.
With the big toe, you're going to want to thumb walk this whole area. Just to be thorough, we'll go all the way around. You can think of the big toe like the head, and the base as like the neck.
You'll come in here, and we're just going to thumb walk up. And, again, you're just bending at the joint here, and taking little bites, and I'm going up. You could also go across, and come across this way. You could also bend the toe a little bit. You're really supporting with these fingers here, but you could do a little bit of a lift, and folding over the thumb. And that will allow you get a little deeper in there. You could do it, with finger walking, you could do the base of the neck on this side. Go all the way around.
In addition to this big toe, you're going to want to do all the toes. With the second digit, you'll always want to support from the base. You're going to want to, with your finger, and your thumb, you're going to walk down at the same time, on either side. So, right like that. And I'm really supporting in the back.
You could do it again, supporting the back with your whole hand, and your fingers, you'll thumb walk down, the whole second toe. You're really getting in there in the base. You're going to do that again with the third digit, coming down, really supporting, and coming down.
Of course, you can, with the finger walking, you'll also do the front or the dorsum, the dorsal aspect. You'll do all the toes for the neck reflexes. You're going to want to focus, also, on the shoulder reflex, which is this whole area here. This whole area here. You're going to do it bilaterally, so you are going to do both feet. I'll just do this one here.
We're going to thumb walk down. A lot of people hole tension in their shoulders, so this can be a really nice thing for that as well. Many of us kind of walk around like this, so just give attention right here, if that's the case.
I'm walking across now, just a little bit from the lateral aspect in word, and you can certainly give attention to the side, by pinching a little bit. Then, you'll come in around at that diaphragm line reflex. You have that solar plexus right in the middle, so the solar plexus reflex, you'll hold with both thumbs, and you're just going to lean a little forward, and you lean forward.

We're going to want to focus on the reflexes to the neck, the head, the sinuses, the pituitary gland reflex, the adrenal gland reflex, and the ileocecal valve reflex.
We're going to break those down. We'll be using all thumb walking and a little finger walking techniques.
Using thumb walking, we're going to start with the big toe, the great toe. We can do thumb walking across the base; this will be the neck reflex. And, actually, it's for all the toes. We're doing one toe at a time. But once you're done doing that whole toe, you'll do the second digit and the third and, of course, both feet.
Now I'm coming down here using finger walking and I'm coming down the great toe; so I'm coming down here. And, of course, always supporting using my thumb and I always support the ball of the foot here as well. And it will shift as you move along the foot, depending on where you are.
I'm doing the whole toe, all the way around the head. In a reflexology map, you're going to see that the great toe is like the head, the brain, the neck reflexes so you want to get it all the way around.
Brain, brain stem, pituitary gland reflex, pituitary and pineal gland reflex; so do all that in full and you'll take it to the toes as well.
With the toes, the sinus reflexes are all here. So in order to access those, we're going to thumb walk down.
So thumb walking down, we're going to pass through them and, if I continue on, I'm accessing the reflexes to the neck. And again, I'm going to do it all the way around. So we do the sides as well with the thumb and the finger and then we do the front primarily using the finger walking technique, and that's the front.
And then we end at the very top, which is the brain reflex. So we would come through here, doing the top of the toe.
After you've done all the toes and given attention to the sinus areas, you're also going to come down here and give attention to the adrenal gland reflex.
So adrenal gland reflex is right through here. You can see that if you were to come down between your first and second digits, right through here, kind of midway through, you kind of feel it; it's like a little button in there.
And another area that you want to give attention to, in addition to the sinuses and head and adrenals, is the ileocecal valve. It's the valve between the small intestine, the large intestine. It controls levels of mucus in the body so it can have an effect on the sinuses, pressure and mucus up in this area as well.
So the ileocecal valve, right here, is your heel. Right, a little bit up, as you course down on this fifth zone, this fifth metatarsal, a little bit in of that is your ileocecal valve. I usually will just walk the entire large intestine reflex and it will come up through here; you'll go across, continue on, this is the transverse colon; come down descending colon, sigmoid colon, and then out.
And that's just for good measure. You could certainly just hold here. And then you could end; I like to always end protocols with the solar plexus reflex.
Coming across through here, your thumb will be right there, and just lean a little forward.

Another thing you might want to to for headaches or migraines in self care is to take the tip of a pencil eraser and give attention to the reflex points that are in the tips of the fingers. With a pencil here, I have a little bit of an eraser and I'm gonna first do the midpoint of my thumb. That's my pituitary gland reflex, and actually if I'm feeling very anxious or disorganized, if you do this for all of your fingers it's extremely ground even though it's dealing with the brain reflexes just to kind of clarify to clear the mind.
So you do that for all your fingers and in addition you could use the techniques of thumb walking and finger walking for your own fingers and thumb. So, just like we did with the toes, you would come down here and do walking on either side. You might want to do a thumb walking across the base here. You can do a little claw on this pointer finger or second digit and then this inner aspect of the thumb. You could just do a kind of rolling around at the tips of each finger.
You could actually go all the way down to the base. I do this often on trains and in transport so that could be really relieving as well if you're experiencing a headache or migraine at the time and there's no one to tend to your feet.
