One of the difficulties in trying to quit smoking is that smokers become physically dependant on nicotine. Smoking affects the parts of the brain that relate to reward and pleasure. It increases the amount of the neurotransmitter, dopamine, and the nature of nicotine is that it creates a cycle of positive reinforcement within your brain that makes you want more.
Scientists have found that when you withdraw from chronic nicotine use, it results in changes in these neural pleasure pathways. And the effect on the brain is similar to what someone addicted to cocaine, opiates and other drugs experiences. Hence, depression and anxiety are common.
Fortunately, some resourceful modern herbalists began applying traditional knowledge to a modern problem. In Ayurvedic medicine, common garden variety oats (but not oat straw), is used to treat opium withdrawal. The herbalist Anand, using a tincture (an alcoholic extract of the herb), applied this same reasoning to nicotine withdrawal, with significant results.
In a group of 26 heavy smokers, he gave an oat tincture, and in another group of 26, he gave a placebo. The group who took the oat tincture smoked less cigarettes, and this effect remained for two months after they stopped treatment. The herbalist Weiss theorizes that it is the sedative effect of oats. Oats contain as active constituents the indole alkaloid, gramine, and the alkaloids avenine and trigonelline. Oats are described in herbal medicine texts as helping create a feeling of well-being whilst simultaneously acting as a tonic to the nervous system. But unlike narcotics, these are mild, non-habit forming effects.
My herbal teacher, Ses Salmond, suggested the following formula for those trying to stop smoking. In a 50ml bottle, mix the following herbal tinctures:
- 15ml green oats
- 10ml white horehound
- 10ml mullein
- 5ml golden seal
- 10ml peppermint
Take 6 drops on the tongue whenever the craving to have a cigarette is felt.
Acupuncture is also an excellent support option. HerbMed offers the following herbal option, to be used on appropriate acupuncture points. Mix oil of cloves, oil of wintergreen, an extract of evodia fruit, an extract of sichuan lovage rhizome, and msg, and apply to specific acupuncture points. Unfortunately, they don't say which acupuncture points, but this may be determined by what each person presents with.

Rule 1. You need to break away from your environment, that's one of the biggest fights. It's advised to take a temporary step away from your current friends. But breaking away from your environment means more than that, what are your triggers? You have to break away from the things that in your environment taht trigger you.
Rule 2. You need proper sleep. It's a complete b*tch to sleep when you're trying to quit weed. Your brain doesn't produce the necessary chemicals to put you to sleep. Possibly take melatonin supplements temporarily.
Rule 3. NUTRITION. You must eat, but it's not fun and all food tastes like sh*t, your body will hate eating and will refuse food. (feeling like throwing up)
You need the calories and PROPER nutriends to stay focused, you can't fight your hardest battle without being well prepared, so nutrition is extremely important. You must eat, if eating is too difficult, you can resort to drinking your meals.
If you try to quit weed, these 3 rules will help you so much.
First off, two words don't go together marijuana dangerous. It's not likely to lead to violent behavior, it has no organ toxicity, it can't cause on overdose. However, you can still have a marijuana problem. Marijuana addiction is a very real thing and quitting after frequent prolonged use can cause a marijuana withdrawal. The weed withdrawal's intensity varies based on the individual, some get nothing at all while others can't sleep or eat. When searching if marijuana's addictive there's a lot of the people who don't suffer the addiction spreading blanket statements it wasn't addictive for me so it isn't for everyone. This is not true. It was very difficult for some people to quit smoking marijuana, if you're struggling I hope this video lets you know you're not alone. You can quit smoking weed by taking it one day at a time.

I prevented myself from quitting my addiction to smoking cigarettes FOR YEARS. I was physically, emotionally, & mentally addicted & to be completely honest… I LIKED SMOKING CIGARETTES.
I understood smoking was absolutely horrible for me on every level yet, I allowed myself to continuously cave.
Because caving was sooooo much easier than dealing with the uncomfortable parts of quitting my addiction.
Caving fed my physical cravings. It temporarily slowed down my racing mind, antsy-ness, & the irritation that comes along with detoxing.
But caving never filled my cup.
Caving never taught me self-discipline.
Caving never pushed me to dive deeper into my personal-development journey.
Caving kept me right where I DIDN’T WANT TO BE.
Quitting cold turkey didn’t work for me.
Attempting to quit my addiction by feeding my body nicotine through a patch, vape, or whatever, never resonated with me as solution to quit my addiction.
Along with my commitment to personal-development, herbal smokes turned out to be the #1 thing that supported me in quitting my mental, physical, & emotional addiction to cigarettes.
When I discovered herbal smokes, my intuition k n e w with certainty that they were part of my personal solution to quitting cigarettes for good, even after 8 years of chain smoking & many attempts to quit!
Shortly after discovering herbal smokes, I enjoyed my last pack of cigarettes, committed to saying NO to cigarettes forevermore, & temporarily allowed myself to smoke herbal smokes when I felt like I really needed the physical support or I was going cave.
Herbal smokes kept me from going to the nearest gas station for “just one more pack.”
I never had self-discipline with cigarettes. Herbal smoke helped me learn self-discipline, as I practiced saying no more than yes because I truly didn’t want to replace one addiction with another.
Herbal smokes pushed me to dive deeper into my personal-development journey & get clear on what I wanted more than an old bad habit that wasn’t serving me or my mind & body well.
Herbal smokes gave me that physical fix without reintroducing nicotine & all the other junk back into my body, that was causing me to be physically addicted.
Herbal smokes supported me along my journey back to SELF-CREATED freedom.
Temporarily allowing myself to smoke herbal smokes made my detox process feel doable.
Giving up on quitting my addiction to cigarettes wasn’t an option!
Within two months, I started to leave the herbal smokes at home & I could be around people smoking cigarettes without ANY desire to go back to my old ways.
Almost 4 years later, I am still cig free with ZERO desire to smoke a cigarette.
The combination of willingness & herbal smokes changed my life.
From day 1, I did NOT intend to replace my cigarettes with herbal smokes.

I do believe that Vitamin B-3 (Niacin or Niacinamide) is one of the most important supplements you can take when it comes to treating addiction.
Nicotine and niacin occupy the same receptors in the brain, which is why it is so helpful in reducing nicotine cravings.
In 1960, Bill W., the co-founder of Alcoholics Anonymous, was introduced to the benefits of B-3 by Dr. Abram Hofer who had lots of success treating alcohol addiction, depression, high cholesterol and schizophrenia with vitamin B-3.

First off, I want to say that I do not smoke, and I do not recommend smoking. But, in this video, I want to talk about some of the dangers of stopping smoking too suddenly. I highly recommend that you do stop smoking. But you have to do it correctly.
I’ve observed a lot of people who are chronic smokers stop smoking suddenly, and they start gaining weight in the stomach, and they have problems with the heart and other health problems. Some people don’t have these issues, but some do. I believe it has to do with nicotine.
Nicotine is a drug that triggers certain body chemicals called neurotransmitters. A neurotransmitter is a hormone-like chemical that travels through the nervous system. Hormones are chemicals that travel through the blood. Nicotine triggers some neurotransmitters that have to do with the stimulation of the adrenal glands and other body parts.
Over time, chronic smokers start to trigger the adrenals to the point where they can feel relaxed when smoking. This is because nicotine opens up the arteries around the heart. It also relaxes the bronchial tubes.
The receptor that receives nicotine, over time, starts to become resistant. Now, your adrenals become so dependent on nicotine, that if you stop cold turkey, you’re going to have a sudden shift of neurotransmitters that drop way down. At this point, the adrenals can crash and cause a lot of health problems.
How to quit smoking correctly:
