Green Tea Lowers Breast Cancer Risk
Green Tea Lowers Breast Cancer Risk
Green Tea Lowers Breast Cancer Risk: Researchers at the University of Southern California led by Anna H. Wu reported data suggesting consumption of green tea reduces a woman's risk of developing breast cancer. Researchers studied the dietary and lifestyle habits of 501 women with breast cancer and 594 women who were cancer free living in the same region of Los Angeles. The women were between the ages of 25 and 74. All were Asian Americans of Japanese, Filipino, or Chinese descent.
Both groups were generally alike in terms of height, weight, and age at which puberty began. Notable differences included more children among the cancer-free group, a greater consumption of soy foods, and more exercise. However, the most striking difference between the two groups was that the healthy women were far more likely to drink green tea.
Drinking on average up to 85 milliliters (less than 6 tablespoons) of green tea daily lowered a woman's risk of breast cancer by almost 30 percent, compared to the women who did not drink green tea. Women who drank more than 85 milliliters of green tea per day enjoyed up to 50 percent less risk of breast cancer. An organic green tea whole food supplement, such as Kina Green Tea Complex, can help provide this daily dosage. One serving of Green Tea Complex is equivalent to 6 tablespoons of brewed tea. Moreover, its unique processing method preserves all the beneficial antioxidants found in fresh tea leaves. Usual green tea processing methods, plus the use of hot water to brew tea, can destroy these protective nutrients.
Japanese Americans drank the most green tea, about 160 milliliters daily, roughly 60 percent more than Chinese Americans and more than six times as much as women of Filipino descent did. Cancer patients were more likely not to drink tea than the healthy women were. Among women with breast cancer who did drink tea, a smaller percentage drank green tea. Cancer patients who drank green tea tended to consume less than the healthy women did.
The researchers found that green tea's apparent benefits were present regardless of other factors that could influence the risk of breast cancer, such as unhealthy habits such as smoking tobacco and drinking alcohol. The cancer-protective effects of green tea persisted no matter how much a woman smoked or drank. Other risk factors--such as consumption of red meat, processed meats, milk, poultry, or coffee; how much she exercised; and whether there was a history of breast cancer in her family.
The researchers noted, green tea drinkers showed a significantly reduced risk of breast cancer compared to non-green tea drinkers, even after adjusting for age, Asian ethnicity, birthplace, age a menarche and other risk factors such as menopausal status, use of menopausal hormones, body size, number of pregnancies, and calorie intake.
For more information about the study, contact Anna H. Wu, Department of Preventive Medicine, University of Southern California, Norris Comprehensive Cancer Center, 1441 Eastlake Ave., MC 9175, Los Angeles, CA 90089-9175.

BENEFITS OF GREEN TEA | does green tea make us live longer?
Today, I’ll talk about the top 3 health benefits of green tea as an anti-ageing and life-prolonging drink. I compare the scientific studies I've found on the health benefits of green tea against the verdict of the UK National Health Service to ensure the information here is accurate.
The 1st benefit of green tea is its potential to increase lifespan and to reduce the likelihood of deaths from all causes and a reduction in age related diseases, such as stroke, heart disease, blood pressure issues and cancer. This is due to the antioxidant catechin epigallocatechin gallate (ECGC) almost exclusively found in tea. Studies that have shown such findings include a 19 year long study by the University of Tokyo on 80k adults and another study on 40k adults. The results included a 42% reduction in mortality from stroke in women and 35% in men associated with green tea consumption. The benefits of green tea consumption also included a reduction in bad cholesterol and an increase in the good cholesterol and a reduction in blood pressure, thus reducing the ageing of our bodies.
But are these results statistically significant? To find out, I checked my findings against the UK National Health Service opinion on this, as the information there is peer reviewed by appointed doctors and is therefore reliable. The NHS seem to agree that the studies on the cholesterol, heart disease and stroke benefits were well conducted and that the results are statistically significant, which is great news. But, the NHS feel that further studies are needed on the cancer benefits of green tea. What this basically means is that green tea is a very healthful drink and is likely to help you live longer and healthier, but is NOT a panacea and not a medicine.
The 2nd benefit of green tea is a reduction in brain ageing, also due to the EGCG found in tea. A 2017 study by the University of Singapore on 1000 chinese adults found that consumption of Chinese loose leaf tea seemed to correlate with a reduction in brain degradation, such as Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s. This study was supported by many lab studies. So what des the NHS have to say on this? The NHS seem to agree that there is a weak link associated with Alzeimer’s and green tea benefits found in the older animal studies, but they haven’t yet had the chance to reviewe the more recent study on humans. This review is due on 10 August 2018.
The 3rd benefit of green tea is reduced skin ageing. Numerous studies have associated ECGC with a reduction in skin ageing and in an increase in the skin’s protection from UV rays, which is the no 1 cause of skin ageing. The NHS haven’t reviewed the findings on the benefits of green eta related to skin ageing though.

green tea for weight loss and cancer prevention
Brewing the perfect cup of green tea is an art. With just a pinch of green tea leaves one can brew a lovely and refreshing cup of green tea. It is value for money because one can brew a cup of green tea with less than one gram of tea leaves. A 100 gram packet of green tea would therefore give you 100 cups of green tea.
For those who have tried out green tea and spat out the brew in sheer disgust due to the bitterness of the brew, these guidelines will help them to brew a better cup of green tea the next time around. These factors need to be kept in mind: 1) The use of soft water or spring/mineral water 2) The water needs to be at a temperature of 80 degrees centigrade 3) One needs to use just a pinch of tea leaves for one cup of green tea as shown in the video. 4) The brewing time needs to be just 2--3 minutes. If brewed for a longer time the green tea tends to become bitter and astringent.
I recommend using good quality whole tea leaves to brew green tea. Although green tea bags are easily available, the brew they yield is far from satisfactory. The technical term for whole tea leaves is TGFOP (tippy golden flowery orange pekoe). Ask your local tea seller if he/she can procure TGFOP green tea for you. If not then you can shop online for loose, whole leaf green tea. Enjoy!

Butterfly Pea - Clitori Ternatea Leaf - The Blue Anti-oxidant and Cancer Prevention Leaf
Butterfly pea tea is a characteristic blossom frequently known as Clitoria ternatea, Clitoria bloom, Asian Pigeonwing or Blue pea. It is best developed in South East Asian nations, for example, Thailand, Malaysia and Vietnam. The dynamic blue bloom is frequently utilized in hot or cold tea, cooking and well being related items.
Despite the fact that butterfly pea is regularly connected with tea, it isn't in fact a tea like green tea or dark tea which is gotten from a plant called Camellia Sinensis. It's really a home grown mixture or a tisane which the equivalent can be said about mint tea or chamomile tea. This additionally implies it is sans caffeine and can be expended whenever of day.

Epi. 69 | Pink Periwinkle Tea + Folkloric and Medicinal Uses (Catharanthus roseus)
PINK PERIWINKLE | Catharanthus roseus is known as ‘tsitsirika’ in the Philippines. Known in many parts of the world for its medicinal uses, it is considered as ornamental plant by some, too. The plant contains two active ingredients, VINBLASTINE and VINCRISTINE, in treating certain cancers while its folkloric uses range from treating diabetes to insomnia - please see the list of researches below for details.
*
TRANSCRIPT:
Should you wish to skip some medicinal, folkloric, and care information of this plant, please proceed at 1:46 for the medicinal tea - thank you so much.
PINK PERIWINKLE | Catharanthus roseus
Also locally known in the Philippines as 'tsitsirika', it is a native herb in Madagascar - although it can now be found in many tropical regions - in which its medicinal value has been found to be as early as in ancient Mesopotamian age.
FOLKLORIC USES: Pink periwinkle is known for diabetes, stomach issues such as indigestion, cramps, and dyspepsia, as well as dysmenorrhea, hypertension, tumor growths, insect stings, and recently, cancer.
CARE TIP: Pinch off one or two of these and the plant will branch out for more; this plant is also drought-resistant.
CANCER AND PLANT RESEARCHES: VINBLASTINE and VINCRISTINE - such pretty-sounding names, are actually two powerful alkaloids of this plant and are now being used as drugs to help in curing certain cancers.
These seedlings have grown from the seeds I featured at Epi. 57 - I recycled plastic candy jars and it saved me space, too.
SERIOUS CONDITIONS such as cancer and diabetes, need medical attention and so one has to be careful when taking this herb medicinally. There were negative side-effects found on VINCRISTINE as anticancer drug - while one study showed toxicity on sheep which have accidentally digested this plant.
ONE SERVING TEA
8-10 medium-sized leaves
2 cups of clean water
INSTRUCTIONS
1. Boil for not more than 10 minutes.
2. Sweeten to taste.
It has a sappy taste - almost pungent but not exactly bitter-tasting, so taste-masking may be preferred, such as the use of honey, molasses, or another herb.

Butterfly Pea Tea : Helps You In Weight loss, Diabetes, Aging, Cancer And More!
Butterfly Pea Tea : Helps You In Weight loss, Diabetes, Aging, Cancer And More!
1) Anti-aging- Over time, our bodies take in and metabolize a lot of oxygen, leading to cell oxidation and the inundation of something called “free radicals” into the body. These tricky little byproducts are linked to causing diseases and increasing aging effects. Not something anyone wants in their body! Butterfly pea powder is loaded with antioxidants- the kind that fight off these free radicals, slowing down aging at its cause. This gorgeous tea naturally prevents aging, so get to drinking!
2) Anti-inflammatory- Butterfly Pea powder has been renowned for years in the field of Ayurvedic medicine for its limitless uses, and a study published in the Journal of Pharmacy only proved these uses are still relevant today.
In a study determining the effectiveness of a butterfly pea powder solution, researchers discovered that it can “significantly reduce body temperature” when the subject is suffering from a fever. This low-calorie, high-benefit drink may just be the answer if you’re not one to turn to lab-made pharmaceuticals at the first sign of illness.
3) Boosts Immune System- Solutions of this powerful plant were also tested against an array of bacteria and proved to fight against common bacteria when ingested regularly.
This tea is a try health must for those long winter months when everyone seems to be full of snot and sniffles. Drink up and give your immune system some help fighting off those nasty bacteria!
4) Keeps Skin Clear and Glowing- With its natural anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial properties, this elixir not only prevents signs of aging, but fights off the bacteria and inflammation that cause acne and uneven complexion!
5) Boosts Metabolism- A healthy, active metabolism is vital for fighting off excess weight gain and for maintaining your weight. If you’re feeling a discouraging plateau in your health journey, your metabolism might just need a proper boost to burn a few more calories!
Blue tea can help this process by boosting the effects of the fat burning hormone, norepinephrine.
--Dr. Irina Radosevic
It’s well known that green tea can help give your metabolism a leg up, but butterfly pea tea is even more powerful in this regard! It contains loads of potent antioxidants called catechins.
There are different types of these catechins, but the one to look out for is EGCG (epigallocatechin gallate) because it is proven to support and enliven our metabolism! Green tea has some of these properties, but the oxidation process used in harvesting and drying can damage those effects. If you’re looking out for your metabolism, grab the blue tea, not the green!
6) Reduces Disease-causing Fat- Because this tea targets your metabolism to increase calories burned overall, it also aids in getting rid of fat. But there is more than one type of fat!
Subcutaneous fat is held under the surface of the skin, which is what adds pant sizes and can be seen and felt on the outside of the body. However, the more dangerous and disease-causing fat lies inside your body. This is called visceral fat, it pads the space between your organs, and is what leads to diabetes, heart disease, and high blood pressure among other health issues. It's easiest to see this fat in older men who are overall slim but have a prominent beer belly.
Butterfly pea tea targets that visceral fat and works to get rid of it, meaning over time, this tea packs a punch when it comes to health benefits! Of course, it works best when paired with eating well and exercise and is not a cure for those diseases, but maintaining a healthy lifestyle and adding in Butterfly tea will help knock out that visceral fat better than just cutting back on pizza and sweets.

7) Lowers High Blood Pressure- The importance of this tea in Ayurvedic medicine cannot be overlooked, and for years, this natural compound has remained relatively unknown. However, a recent study in the journal Psychopharmacology has proven that it’s abundance of theanine (that helpful little enzyme again) was useful for reducing and regulating the blood pressure of the study’s subjects.
8) Fights Insomnia- Because this beautiful tea is made by drying out the leaves of the Clitoria ternatea flower, it is classified as a tisane, a type of herbal tea. Herbal teas like those made from the butterfly pea powder contain no caffeine, and this tea’s ability to stimulate the production of dopamine reduces stress and anxiety that can lead to sleepless nights. Check out how sleep can impact your overall health here!
9) Helps Regulate Blood Sugar- Is there nothing this miracle tea can’t do? In a study published in the Journal of Applied Pharmaceutical Science, butterfly pea powder proved to reduce and even stabilize levels of blood glucose concentration.

The OMGTEATM Story
In 2010 my mother was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer. Watching my mother fight the disease made me realise that the most important thing in life is family, friends and health so I decided that I wanted to do something positive to help and became involved in supporting some ground breaking research which amongst other things highlighted the benefits of antioxidants in our diets. Green tea is renowned for its healing properties due to an abundance of antioxidants amongst other things.
I wanted my mum to drink the green tea with the most antioxidants and so I tasked myself with the finding it. With it’s amazing health and healing properties an astonishing level of antioxidants Organic Matcha Green Tea was that tea. My mum and I started drinking it immediately. I felt so passionate about its amazing health benefits and how it made us feel that I founded OMGTEA to help spread the word about this miracle green powder. Mum and I drink Matcha daily and have never looked back!”
