It is a gentle art, a fascinating science, and an extremely effective form of therapy that has carved an impressive niche in the field of alternative medicine. Many studies have been done in relation to the effectiveness of this wonder method called Reflexology. Reflexology is the practice of strategically applying pressure to areas of the feet and hands as they correspond with specific body organs. By stimulating nerves on specific areas of the feet and hands, it can stimulate blood flow and eliminate toxin buildup in the corresponding organs and systems of the body.

The breast cancer patients also experienced a decrease in pain. Furthermore,the study also claimed that women that had at least 10 reflexology sessions showed reduced labor times and complications than women who did not have the treatments.
Studies have also shown that patients that received reflexology treatment after surgery experienced far less pain than the patients that took painkillers alone. Moreover, reflexology was shown to be more effective than catheterization in patients with retention of urine after surgery.
Reflexology is safe, non-invasive, and effective therapy for everyone that can and should be used throughout a person's lifetime. In a society that relies heavily on chemically laden prescription drugs for remedy, reflexology is definitely showing a lot of promise as an effective alternative treatment.

Wild lettuce is a biennial plant, and it will have a different look based on the season. There are times when it will only have mature leaves and some instances where it has a yellow flower. It can grow up to seven feet tall when untended.
There are no studies made to determine the safe dosage of wild lettuce, but most people use around 2 to 4 ml tincture three times daily. Some people place one to two teaspoons of dried leaves in boiling water and let it infuse for 10 to 15 minutes. They drink the tea three times a day.
The skin can be irritated when it is applied directly. One should first do a small patch test before using wild lettuce as a topical remedy. It should not be used when pregnant, allergic to ragweed, going into surgery, have glaucoma, or enlarge prostate. Treat the Body the Natural Way Instead of relying on synthetic painkillers, you should first consider using natural remedies such as wild lettuce. NATURAL REMEDIES FOR MENSTRUAL CRAMPS
Menstrual cramps are strong cramping sensations during menstruation. A cramping lower abdominal pain that comes in waves, radiating to the lower back and down to the legs, or a dragging pain in the pelvis.
You should check your diet first.
The diet should be light and simple. Primarily eat fresh fruits and vegetables. Do not overeat.
Take Omega-3 fatty acids (2-4 tsp. flaxseed oil daily). It keeps prostaglandins trapped in cells, so they cannot enter muscle tissue and trigger spasms.
Avoid arachidonic acid (a type of fatty acid), which is found in meat, dairy products, and palm kernel oil (a common ingredient in processed foods).
Reduce salt intake. Food allergies are sometimes a cause.
Niacin helps relieve cramps. Take 25-200 mg beginning 7-10 days before menstruation begins.
Vitamin B6 helps convert fatty acids to a form which helps produce pain-relieving chemicals.
Vitamin C helps strengthen the uterine intake of nutrients and discharge of toxins. Take 1000, 3000 mg daily, especially when symptoms are experienced.
Magnesium (1000 mg) and vitamin E (800-1000 IU) daily are also important. Studies show that taking this vitamin helps reduce menopausal symptoms.
Calcium is a great wonder-worker, when it comes to relaxing muscles and reducing pain. Take 1,000-5,000 mg daily.
Here are some herbs that are very useful for menstrual cramps:
Women of several indian tribes regularly took squaw vine tea for menstrual pain. They also used it to make childbirth easier and to treat sore nipples while nursing. Use it with red raspberry tea for better effect.
According to a special german research team, strawberry leaf tea relieves menstrual cramps. also recommended for this purpose is yarrow tea.
Chinese Angelica (also known as dong-quai or dang qia) is one of the most widely used herbs in Chinese herbal medicine. Considered a female tonic, it is especially used for menstrual cramping.
Motherwort alone can also stop menstrual cramps. Take 5 drops of motherwort extract, keep increasing it until the cramps stop; then take that amount each time cramps begin.
As a good habit, continue taking regular outdoor exercise. It has been proven that hose who exercise have less pain. The best exercises are those which involve the pelvis and legs; waist-bending, and leg exercises.
If you are overweight, you need to reduce. this will significantly lessen painful periods.
